Tyler Horvath - 2D shooter final
I changed 3 things from the tutorial project to make it my own
1) I created 3 levels of scaling difficulty, and changed it so you had to kill all the enemies on each level to progress. While I only added 1 level, I redid the first 2, essentially creating 3 new levels completely.
2) I drew up a new enemy that fit the theme but was also unique. I wanted to create a neutral enemy, that wasn't on your team or the other team, similar to a civilian. I went with the color green to convey this, as the player is blue and the enemies are purple. I used one of the enemies as a base, but made significant changes to make it fit.
3) Finally I created this new "enemy" type. I had to modify the code so that it didn't shoot, and actually ran away from the player out of fear. I gave it custom animations to bring some life/personality to it. I made it worth 0 points and not necessary to kill to progress, as it isn't truly an enemy but more of a bystander. If I understood this project better I would have made killing the civilian a lose condition, but was not confident enough in my skills yet to do so.
